Reaching Back to Wisdom: Looking Forward to Positive Change:  A youth theatrical production

This production takes its name from The Road of Remembrance located on Penn’s grounds, where the students of various classes planted oak trees in memory of their dedicated founders, trustees, teachers, or a community leader who worked hard to preserve the rich history and culture of the Island. This original and innovative educational production, explores, models and promotes the values of Penn School students, and the celebration of Gullah life from 1862-1948.

Be touched as this theatrical drama involving music, scenes of worship services at the Praise House, rites of passage, ring shout and community activities come alive through the performance of elementary middle and high school students dressed in period costumes, as they perform in the spirit and memories of Penn School students, founders and community leaders.
