Pin Point Heritage Museum

The Pin Point Heritage Museum, located in the old A.S. Varn & Son Oyster and Crab Factory just outside of Savannah, is your chance to experience the Gullah Geechee culture first hand — guided on tours led by Gullah Geechee community members. For nearly 100 years, the community of Pin Point was quietly isolated on the banks of the Moon River just south of Savannah. Visitors to the museum can walk back into time to learn more about what it was like to live and work in this Gullah Geechee fishing community. Exhibits cover topics ranging from how the oysters were harvested and canned to the handmade toys that the children used. There is also of course information on one of their most famous native sons, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
